What do you think about a recent statement made by a retired pro basketball player?

Hardaway said he hated gays and was homophobic.

How did that hurt anyone?

He voiced his opinion, big deal.

There are millions of people out there that would tell you the same thing, but since it was Hardaway, the media just blew it up into a huge deal.

I didn't see the gay community in this country riot in the steets or anything, I doubt they care.

Political correctness is gettin way out of hand.

I think he should do a commercial like Gieco does with the cavemen. It would be hilarious.

He could have gays coming to him complaining about what he said like the cavemen do in the commercials,

could be a way he could make some $$.

Whether you like gays, or you don't like gays. Everyone has the right to voice his own opinion...are you talking about the actual gay guy who admitted he was gay, or the other guy who said he hates gays

no, no, no. arnamechi is the retired one. hardaway, the one who said all that stupidness about hating gays stills plays
he's a p**sy for not doing it while he was playing
a lot of retired players make statements. Be a little more specific. If you mean Hardaways comments then who cares. Finally someone says what the rest are thinking. He took the bullet for the rest of them.
I have to question his motives about why he is coming out with this now. I agree that he may only be doing it for money. Because if he really wanted to make a stand, he would have admitted it years ago while he was still playing. Maybe by now other gay players would not be so afraid to come out about their sexual orientation - although it has nothing to do with their sports careers.
uummm....what?
I comment John Ammechi for coming out. That was probably a difficult thing for him to do. I just wonder what would have happened if he had said this while he was playing. While I don't condone his lifestyle (religious reasons), I do respect the fact that he is his own person. He seems like he's a nice guy, so people should just leave him alone.

And on a side note, although Tim Hardaway had the right to voice his opinion on the matter, the way he said it was out of line. The only reason, he apologized is because he got caught saying what he said on national TV. He even said he wouldn't speak to a relative if they were gay. That just goes to show how he really feels.
My thoughts are "How Convenient"- I could care less on whether he is gay or not, I have never got the whole gay thing but different strokes for different folks I guess BUT nobody has mentioned how ironic that he is coming out in the form of a book. Self serving greedy homosexual or a sly business move. According to which way you look at it, but for the gays to be hailing him for coming out, they are the ones who should be least thrilled because he isn't coming out because of gay pride, he is coming out for the almighty $$$. Once again the gays get bent over. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
even though some people are like that, since u are a basketball star u can not talk about some one being gay
we live in america.... everyone can voice his opinion...
Who are we talking about now, and what did he say?
